Thomas Shellenberger, MD,                                                                        President
Following graduation in 1965 from Marquette University and serving as a Marine officer, Jim attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine-Des Moines University. After residency in Family Practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1976 he worked in a variety of primary care settings in the Midwest and later, Arizona. He has completed the certificate program in bioethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center, and has a MA in bioethics from Midwestern University. He retired from the Army Reserve Medical Corps in 2002, and retired from active practice in the Indian Health Service in 2013. He currently volunteers as a clinician for Mission of Mercy and as a Board Member of 1st Way Pregnancy Center. He also serves as a Regional Director for Region X of the Catholic Medical Association. He and his wife of 52 years, Rose, are members of Saints Simon & Jude Parish where Jim is a member of Council 12708 Knights of Columbus. They have 7 children and 14 grandchildren.

Marci Moffitt graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston in 1986. She completed training in Internal Medicine and later obtained a Masters degree in Public Health. She is currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Doctoring Curriculum at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and as a part time Hospitalist at the VA in Phoenix. She serves as the Past President for the Catholic Medical Association (CMA President-2012). She teaches with her husband in the RCIA program at Corpus Christi parish. She is married to Dr. Robert A. Moffitt; they have three children.

Richard Petersen graduated from Creighton University Medical College of arts and Science in 1961 and the College of Medicine in 1965. After serving in the United States Air Force, he completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Colorado in 1972. He has practiced radiology in the USAF, Oregon, Nebraska and Arizona. He was ordained a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Phoenix in 1997 and serves St Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa Az. He was awarded a Certification in Health Care Ethics form the National Catholic Bioethics Center in 2006. He has been married to Janice since 1965 and has three children and 3 grandchildren.

At the invitation of Bishop Olmsted, Father Ignatius (formerly Father Zyg) came to Phoenix with 6 others to form a new congregation, the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit, based at St. John the Baptist parish on the Indian Reservation in Levine. He received his doctorate in Moral Theology  in Rome in June of 2016. In his role as chaplain, in addition to hearing confessions and celebrating Mass at each meeting, he provides spiritual direction, and presents talks on moral, theological, and spiritual topics.
